The Schaefers and Brevik quit Blizzard after Diablo in the year 2000
The original Diablo exceeded all expectations. The Schaefer brothers claimed that they had envisioned D2R Items selling 20.000 copies that would have been enough to create an sequel. The game of course sold many more copies than that and was instrumental in establishing the ARPG genre that is immensely popular nowadays.
The Schaefers and Brevik quit Blizzard after Diablo in the year 2000, and went on to create new studios and work on new projects. Brevik held a number of positions at different studios in his time after Blizzard. One of his most prominent positions was director of Gazillion Entertainment, which made Marvel Heroes. Then, he launched his own company, Graybeard Games, which is currently working on an ARPG called It Lurks Below. In the last week it was announced to be available for Xbox One, in addition to PC.
Max Schaefer now heads up Echtra Games, which is creating the recently delayed Torchlight Frontiers, while Erich Schaefer was the one who created Double Damage Games, which released Rebel Galaxy in 2018.
Brevik says he sees his ARPG game as one with plenty of potential to grow and change over time. Brevik believes he can see elements from ARPGs and MMOs merging to create an entirely new type of game , one that's social inspired, with players working together to take on bosses from the raid and other co-operative elements. He added that Gazillion attempted to create a bit similar goals with Marvel Heroes, but unfortunately the game was closed at the close of 2017.
With Diablo commemorating its 20th anniversary Blizzard's other games celebrate the anniversary in their own ways. In the past, plans for World of Warcraft's celebration were more vague than the others, and now we're getting an idea of why.
On Reddit on Reddit, user TimFromTheBeach has revealed the existence of an undiscovered cow level in buy diablo 2 resurrected items. It's a secret area in Diablo. is an old joke from Diablo. Though tooltips suggested that such a concept didn't exist at all, players could find their way to a specific place in Diablo where they'd fight Bipedal cows with axes.
